Mumbai: Tata DOCOMO, in association with Shamiana — The Short Film Club, announces the screening of short films for three days during the Kalaghoda festival 2010. Movie lovers can view these special screenings and enjoy the magic of cinema. These films will be showcased on February 8, 10 and 14, 2010 at 6pm.
Tata DOCOMO, India’s youngest and fastest-growing GSM operator is well-known for supporting causes that encourage upcoming talent. Shamiana — The Short Film Club, India's fastest-growing short film club is passionate about showcasing the finest short films from the country and across the world.
The short films will be screened on the themes of the popular tag lines of Tata DOCOMO:
- February 08, 2010: Life changes in seconds
- February 10, 2010: Do More
- February 14, 2010: Dosti Unlimited or Buddynet
The screenings will include Shoonyata, a red carpet film at the New York film festival this year and Yeh Jahan, a film by upcoming director Amit Khanna, that will premiere at this year’s festival. In keeping with the Buddynet theme of Tata DOCOMO, films made by a group of friends will also be part of the screenings.
Speaking on Tata DOCOMO’s association with Shamiana, Abdul Khan, advisor to the MD and head of Tata DOCOMO marketing, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) said, “We at Tata DOCOMO believe in inspiring people to unleash their creativity, and short films are a perfect medium to do this. Our association has been very successful and we are particularly pleased that this is being showcased at the iconic Kalaghoda festival.”
The screening of short films in the Kalaghoda festival is pursuant to the Tata DOCOMO Mini-Movie Contest that was announced in November 2009. The winner of this contest will get an opportunity to work as the assistant director in Kunal Deshmukh’s (the young Bollywood director) next venture. The categories were:
- The Best Short Film
- The Best Movie Shot with a Mobile Phone, and
- The Director’s Favourite.
