Tata Power bags 'gold' at the Chapter Convention on Quality Circle 2018 Awards
Team Challenger, Team Pragati and Team Avenger (O&M) bestowed with prestigious gold awards in a ceremony held in West Bengal
Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Delhi, Dhanbad: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility, took centrestage at the recently held Chapter Convention on Quality Circle (CCQC) 2018 Award ceremony by bagging three gold awards for excellent problem-solving capabilities and contribution of teams towards quality initiatives at the Jojobera thermal power station. Three quality circle teams — 1) Team Challenger 2) Team Pragati 3) Team Avenger (O&M) — were bestowed with prestigious gold awards under the ‘lean QC’ category.
The 2018 CCQC Awards function was held at Durgapur, West Bengal, and witnessed the participation of around 80 teams from different industries including Tata Steel; Tata Power; Durgapur steel plant; Durgapur Cement Works; JCAPCPL; DVC Mejhia; IISCO steel plant; Jindal Steel & Power; Sonar Bangla Cement; MCPI Haldia; Supreme Industries; Tata Global Beverages, Nonoi; Tata Tea, Damdin; Central Coalfields; etc.
Quality Circle is a small group activity of grassroots employees guided by a management representative termed as a facilitator / coordinator, solving their work-related problems by using quality tools. Nowadays they also solve problems given by management under a new concept called ‘lean QC’. Projects undertaken by the three quality circle teams were:
