My first career, my dream, and my passion for years - came true with the job “Scientist-Polymers” at ITW, a renowned American MNC. I was on cloud nine when I pitched there. A village girl who lingered around the fables and fairy tales had nothing but dreams and passion as her driving forces.
But life changes, and responsibilities increase. First, as a wife and then as a mother. A few years into my break and I wanted to come back, bring alive my dreams and my financial independence.
Actually, a trip to my village marked this change. It brought back memories of a happy, ebullient, passionate young girl once again and my ambition and spirit asked me to reclaim, what I had left behind. During the course of my break, I must have sent over a 1000 e-mails and connected with many on LinkedIn, but this career gap remained a hard fact. Days of disappointments and sleepless nights, nothing stopped me. I kept knocking on doors, updated my resume on all job sites, and attended many interviews.
That’s the time when I got a call for a role with Tata SCIP. And here I am! Working as a Innovation analyst in the group innovation office in Pune. Am involved in Thematic Scouting where we identify companies and start-ups, prepare reports on them, and organize technology pitch days for relevant Tata group companies. This allows us to stay on top of industry trends and discover potential business opportunities. I also work on Challenge Scouting, where we seek innovative solutions and talented individuals who can help us tackle complex problems.
In fact this role was so interesting that I’ve relocated from Kochi and have the whole support of the team while during the process
This program stands out as an incredible example and offers women like me who were on a break a platform to make a comeback. Now I can proudly say that I am happy, independent, financially free, and share the responsibilities of my family equally. This is my definition of equality!
