Khadi by Taneira is an attempt to showcase the genteel grace of Khadi, a fabric that has played a key role in India’s struggle for independence. The emotions of our freedom fighters and the Mahatma’s quest to instil the values of self-reliance and sustainability in the heartbeat of the nation are intricately woven in the warp and weft of this handspun fabric, at once a symbol of grandeur and simplicity.
The beauty of Taneira’s Khadi Collection lies in how the artisans have been able to make a little go a long way. A brushstroke here, a block print there, and the overall effect is one of understated elegance.
While the hand-brushed strokes add movement, the block prints seem to set that movement on a backdrop where it can play out its unique arrangement to perfection.
Ordinary objects around us are transformed into nature’s own printing blocks. Many of the designs are inspired by the complex patterns found in leaf structures. Motifs of flowers, leaves, fish and other objects from nature’s storehouse are used to dazzling effect, leaving behind an impression of Mother Nature.
Taneira’s Khadi Collection is truly a blend of nature’s artistry and human craftsmanship. Each one a statement piece.
