Industry 4.0 has been the buzzword in the manufacturing industry. It is transforming how manufacturing companies run existing brownfield plants as well as how new plants are being set up. At the core of this transformation is data-led intelligent operations.

Most of the initial use cases focused on production visibility, machine utilisation and quality improvements. However, in India, adoption has been slow due to lack of network readiness and high implementation cost. This trend started changing since 2017, when the equipment costs started coming down and industrial IoT platforms started gaining more adoption.
