The Tata tradition of inclusive policies first began with Jamsetji Tata's first businesses - the cotton mills he set up in 1860s and 1870s. Recognising the need to include women in the workforce, Jamsetji set up creches and dispensaries to ensure that women did not need to stay back at home to take care of their families, as was the norm then.

Ever since, the Tata group has been at the forefront of establishing equitable and inclusive policies. It didn't matter if they were not fashionable in 1868, it doesn't matter if they are fashionable today. We continue the journey.
